Window treatments provide much needed covering between your room and the window, making them essential to any home. Windows can cause electricity bills to increase significantly due to the loss of energy. They can also expose your vulnerability to the outside world and compromise your privacy. Without adequate light control, too much sunlight may enter your house and expose your furniture and decor to the damaging effects of UV rays. Window treatments like blinds or curtains are a vital part of your home.
Blinds are one of the most popular window treatments these days. They use cords that work as pulleys to operate. Pulling on the cord will either open or close the blinds. Sometimes these mechanisms break due to daily wear and tear. However, they can easily be replaced without having to invest in brand new blinds.
Cords for Vertical Blinds Repairs
Vertical blinds are manufactured from vinyl, plastic or wooden slats secured to the headrail. As we’ve mentioned before, you pull a string or cord to open and close the blinds. If it breaks, you don’t have to replace the blinds, you can simply replace the cord. Here’s how you can do it yourself:
- Position a step stool or ladder in front of the vertical blind so you can reach the headrail and locate the break in the string inside it.
- If there’s a headrail cover, remove it. There might be screws keeping the headrail cover in place in which case you can use a screwdriver to remove the screws.
- If the string fell out, thread the string up through the hole in the bottom of the headrail.
- Tie the two ends of the broken string together in a small knot as tight as you can. Trim the ends using scissors.
If you don’t know how to fix the broken cord of your vertical blinds, don’t stress. You can always get help from professionals like Curtain Master. In fact, more often than not, it’s better to call the experts before you break something that could have been fixed.
